The circular structure is unique in its kind and, beyond that, it ranks among the three biggest cupolas ever erected in Hungary using wooden layers laminated by bonding. The cupola of 24 meter interior height and supported by 42 wooden girders of height varying between 22 and 30 meters and being 140 cm thick shall be completed before the end of May. Completion of the project will result in the erection, in two phases, of an immensely complex structure featuring intertwining cambers and curves. Gödöllő, a town of more than 30,000 residents, has demanded and desired, for a long time, for a modern swimming pool of proper capacity. Following a lengthy period of preparations, digging of the building pit and fencing of the work area in 2018 marked the beginning of the implementation.
Nowadays, the work progresses smoothly at a spectacular pace despite the unique engineering approaches necessitated by the specific features of the site and the daring architectural solutions the builders chose to apply. The swimming pool shall be available to both the people living in the town and the neighboring communities and, simultaneously, shall meet the expectations of the leading champions of water sports. Thus, the swimming pool shall be suitable for organizing international sports events, as well.
